MCX connectors or Micro Coaxial as they are correctly named are coaxial RF connectors that were developed during the 1980s. The MCX connector have the same inner contact and insulator dimensions as the SMB connector but are 30% smaller. MCX is standardized in European to CECC 22220

 

MCX connectors use a snap-on interface and are mainly 50 Ω impedance (very few are 75 Ω) . They offer broadband capability from DC to 6 GHz and the contact surfaces are gold-plated.

 

 

MCX connectors are frequently used to connect external antennas to GPS receivers.
